Professional Book
Ghostwriting Services in Ireland

You’ve got a book inside you, but finding the time or skill to actually write it is another story. That’s exactly what our ghostwriters are here for. At Ireland Publishing House, we take your ideas, experiences, and knowledge and turn them into a properly written manuscript. Whether it’s a memoir, business book, fiction, or self-help guide, we work with you through interviews and conversations to capture your voice and get your story down on paper. You stay involved throughout, approving chapters as we go. The book comes out in your voice, your name goes on the cover, and you own everything.

Our Working Process

Our Ghostwriting Process

Turning your ideas into a book is a journey we take together, step by step.

01

Introductory Call

We start with a proper chat about your book. What’s the story you want to tell? Who are you writing it for? If it’s a memoir, we’ll ask about the key moments in your life and what made them significant. If it’s a business book, we’ll talk about your expertise and what you want readers to learn. For fiction, we’ll discuss your characters, plot, and the kind of story you’re hoping to create. This first conversation usually takes an hour or so because we genuinely need to understand what you’re trying to achieve. It’s also your chance to get a feel for working with us, you’ll be spending months on this project together, so it matters that you’re comfortable. No pressure, just an honest discussion about your book and whether we’re the right people to write it.

02

Creating the Outline

After our initial conversation, we’ll create a detailed outline for your book based on everything you’ve told us. For non-fiction, this means organising your ideas into chapters that make sense and build logically. For memoirs, we structure your life story into a narrative that keeps readers engaged. For fiction, we map out your plot, character development, and major scenes. You’ll get this outline to review, does it feel right? Have we missed anything important? Is the structure working? We’ll revise it based on your feedback until you’re happy with the direction. This outline becomes the roadmap for your entire book, so it’s worth getting it right before we start writing properly. A solid structure now saves a lot of rewriting later.

03

Completion Roadmap

Once you’ve approved the outline, we’ll create a realistic timeline for finishing your manuscript. How long it takes depends on your book’s length and how available you are for follow-up chats or interviews. We’ll map out when you can expect each section, how long you’ll have to review it, and when the complete manuscript will be ready. Most ghostwriting projects take three to six months, though it varies. We’re upfront about timelines because nobody likes being kept in the dark. If you’ve got a specific deadline, maybe you need the book finished for a launch event or speaking tour, tell us and we’ll work backwards to see if it’s realistic. If it’s not, we’ll say so rather than overpromise and disappoint you later.

04

Initial Draft

Now we actually start writing. Based on the approved outline, we’ll write the first chapter of your book. This first chapter is really important because it sets the voice and style for everything that follows. Does it sound like you? Is the tone right? Are we telling the story the way you imagined? You’ll review this section carefully and tell us what’s working and what isn’t. Maybe it’s too formal, or maybe we need more personal anecdotes. Whatever it is, we’ll adjust based on your feedback.

05

Completing the Remaining Drafts

After you approve the first chapter, we continue writing the rest of your book in manageable sections. You’ll receive chapter by chapter drafts, so you can review as we go rather than waiting months to see the whole thing. This staged approach keeps you involved and means we can course-correct if needed. If something’s not quite right in one chapter, we fix it before moving on. We might schedule more conversations to clarify details, gather additional stories, or dig deeper into certain sections. It’s a proper collaboration, nothing gets written without checking in with you first. By the time we reach the final chapter, you’ve already seen and approved most of the book, so there shouldn’t be any nasty surprises.

06

Final Proofreading

Once all the chapters are written and you’ve approved everything, we do a final proofread of the complete manuscript. We read it cover to cover, checking for consistency, timeline accuracy, repetitive phrases, and any remaining typos or errors. We make sure the chapters flow properly and the whole narrative hangs together. After this final polish, you get the complete, publication-ready manuscript. It’s entirely yours, to publish, edit further, or do whatever you want with. Our job’s done at this point. You’ve got a professionally written book with your name on it, and we step back completely. The manuscript belongs to you, and nobody needs to know we were involved unless you choose to tell them.

How Much Does Ghostwriting
Cost in Ireland?

Ghostwriting costs vary widely across Ireland because every project is different and every company sets their own rates. A 40,000-word business book requires far less work than a 90,000-word memoir with complex timelines, so pricing reflects that difference. Some ghostwriters charge per word, others per project, and rates depend on the writer’s experience, the research involved, and how much collaboration is needed. Fiction, non-fiction, and academic writing all come with different price points too.

The truth is, we can’t give you an accurate price without understanding your specific project first. What kind of book are you writing? How long will it be? Do you have detailed notes already, or will we be starting from scratch? How much input and revision do you want along the way? These factors completely change the cost.

During your free consultation, we’ll discuss your book in detail.

We will give you transparent pricing based on what your project actually needs.

No vague estimates or hidden fees, just honest pricing for your specific book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ghostwriting costs vary massively depending on what you need. A short 30,000-word book will obviously cost less than a detailed 90,000-word memoir. Generally, you’re looking at anywhere from €5,000 to €50,000 for a full book, though it can go higher for very specialised or lengthy projects. Some ghostwriters charge per word, others per project. The price reflects months of work, interviewing you, researching, writing, revising, and getting the voice just right. At Ireland Publishing House, we give you honest pricing during a free consultation once we understand your project properly. We don’t believe in vague estimates or hidden costs, you’ll know exactly what you’re paying for and why before you commit to anything.

Start by looking for publishing houses or ghostwriting services with proper websites, portfolios, and real client testimonials. Check if they’ve worked on books in your genre, someone who writes business books might not be the best fit for your novel. Read samples of their work if available, and pay attention to whether their writing style feels natural or generic. Book consultations with a few different services to see who you connect with. The right ghostwriter should ask thoughtful questions, seem genuinely interested in your story, and make you feel confident they understand what you’re trying to achieve. At Ireland Publishing House, we take time to match you with writers who specialise in your genre and get what you’re going for from the very first conversation.

Be wary of anyone who won’t show you samples of their previous work or provide references from past clients. If someone promises you’ll hit bestseller lists or guarantees massive sales, walk away, that’s not something any legitimate ghostwriter can promise. Watch out for vague contracts that don’t clearly outline what you’re getting, or writers who pressure you to pay everything upfront without milestones. Red flags also include ghostwriters who don’t ask many questions about your book or seem disinterested in your vision. At Ireland Publishing House, we provide clear contracts with staged payments, keep you involved throughout the process, and sign legal confidentiality agreements. If something feels off or you’re being rushed into a decision, trust your gut and keep looking.

It’s not, ghostwriting is completely legal and widely used across the publishing industry. The confusion probably comes from academic ghostwriting, where students pay someone to write their essays or dissertations, which breaks university rules (though even that’s not actually illegal, just against academic policy). In book publishing, ghostwriting is perfectly legitimate and extremely common. Celebrities, politicians, business leaders, and everyday people use ghostwriters all the time. You’re simply hiring a professional writer to help put your ideas, stories, or expertise into book form.

You can try, but don’t expect a book anyone would actually want to read. AI tools like ChatGPT can generate text quickly, but they can’t conduct real interviews, ask follow-up questions when something’s unclear, or capture the authentic human voice that makes books engaging. AI produces generic, often repetitive content that sounds artificial because, well, it is. It doesn’t understand nuance, can’t adapt to your personality, and certainly can’t shape raw life experiences into a compelling narrative. Professional ghostwriters bring years of writing expertise and the ability to pull stories out of you that you didn’t even realise you had. At Ireland Publishing House, our writers are actual humans who work collaboratively with you to create something genuinely worth reading. If you want a real book, hire a real writer.

Yes, Stephen King writes everything himself. He’s incredibly prolific and has been very open about his writing process over the years. King treats writing like a job, he sits down daily and does the work, which is how he’s managed to publish over 60 novels and hundreds of short stories. His voice and style are so consistent because he genuinely writes every word himself. Whilst plenty of famous authors do use ghostwriters (especially for celebrity memoirs or business books), King isn’t one of them.
